Journal Entry #6

Last week in class we discussed privacy issues in relation to websites. This is a very important issue for many reasons. Having control of private information is necessary for a company to function because it stresses the trust between the client. If the trust isn't there then it is difficult to have an effective relationship.

There are many ways to ensure trust. There has to be proper ways of encoding files, there has to be proper software, and most importantly information needs to be regulated and checked constantly. There are many new ways to hack and get information so it is imperative to try and stay one step ahead of the game.

This is a very crucial topic in the field of technology. There are many ways that information can be stolen and manipulated. If hackers are able to do what they want with peoples information, the Internet will not be an effective tool because people will not trust in the system. As a company, being able to understand this is vital.

Journal Entry #5

The last lab that was completed dealt with networks and privacy. Understanding basic concepts regarding networks and privacy is key in any business and company. It is especially crucial to understand on today's world where technology is changing every second.

More important than just learning networks, privacy is also a part of technology that must be account for. There are a lot of hackers and other people who try to work their way into websites and other means of data to steal important information. This can damage a company and even make it so they collapse and cease to exist.

Companies that know the risk and account for them are able to make sure none of their data is stolen or made public to the Internet. As time goes on, there will be more and more ways to be attacked, but keeping up to date and understanding those risks will eventually lead to safety. This is one of the biggest problems facing Internet companies today and many are unable to see the risk and make the necessary changes to avert them.

Journal Entry #4

This last week of class and the lab exercise was a helpful tool in understanding the ways to use Excel. In any business, understanding this application is vital. I had the basic knowledge of this program, but after the lab I was able to take my knowledge up one step further.

When developing any new idea, understanding technology is key. Anytime where organizing numbers and reading data is involved, being able to use Excel to organize everything saves a lot of time. Taking the time to learn it may be hard, but it will pay off in huge ways.

Although I still have a lot more to learn about the intricacies about Excel, I feel that I have taken my knowledge a step further. Down the road as a continue to advance my career, a knowledge in excel will help me out in so many ways. Having this knowledge is key for any student who is trying to be successful in the work force right now.

Journal Entry #3

Although the past lab didn't teach me anything really regarding my idea, it made me realize the power of being an entrepreneur. The power of the computer has obviously been seen on our society. When the computer was first being invented, they didn't know what kind of influence it was going to have on the world, but as time has shown it has changed our world in ways never though imaginable.

Even though my Sweet Dreams Cookie isn't on the same level as the computer, it teaches me that it takes a vision to make something work. If I plan carefully and do research behind what I want to accomplish, then who's to say what can or cant be done. The power of an idea is something that can carry forth anything.

Being an entrepreneur is something that can't be taught. There are certain attributes that make one able to develop new ideas. I have a lot to learn in order to be like that but I know that if I take something I feel strongly about and develop it, then I know that I can accomplish anything I set my mind to.

Journal Entry #2

The lab that I just completed was a very useful tool, especially for the idea I have pertaining to the sweet dreams cookie. PowerPoint is an essential tool for an aspiring business. It is a way to present the material you have in an organized and easy to follow manner. This lab helped refine those skills for me.

It is very important to understand what makes PowerPoint so effective. The design needs to be simple and not too busy. There needs to be main key ideas, not the use of full sentence. And most importantly, when giving a presentation through PowerPoint, the presenter should be reading straight off the slides, but rather use it as a guide.

I learned through this lab some tools about PowerPoint that I never knew existed. I didn't know I had the ability to put in a video and I thought that was a neat things. Overall, having the ability to use PowerPoint effectively is a skill that I wasn't to continue to develop. It will help me out tremendously in my future career.

Journal Entry #1

My idea for the Sweet Dreams cookie is an idea I hope to implement in the near future. It is a concept I feel strongly about and want to see if there is going to be a market for such a unique, and different sleep remedy. With proper research, I hope to see what will become of this idea.

The past lab for this week dealt mostly with identifying the parts of a computer. Although I don't know the exact correlation, it made me think what are the similarities between the idea I have and the cookie. I came to realize that just with being able to name the important aspects of a computer, it is also essential to know every component of the idea I have.

The more I know about what I am trying to do, the easier it will be for me to sell and promote my idea. With any venture, knowledge is a key component. If you don't know anything about the product, deal, or promotion you are trying to set forth, then it is impossible to really have a grasp and be successful with anything.

About my Idea...

My name is Christopher Sotiropulos and I am currently setting this blog up for my IST 195 course here at Syracuse University. I am using this blog to expand on an entrepreneurial idea that I have. This blog will serve as a semester long way to expand and make the idea I have more attainable.

I have taken an idea I started to develop in an entrepreneurial class I took last semester and use this technology class to expand and strengthen my idea in a technological way. The idea I will be developing is the Sweet Dreams Cookie. This cookie will contain the amino acid triptophan which is an essential amino acids that triggers serotonin which makes a person sleepy. There is no other product like this on the market so there is the ability to develop and make this idea work.

Hopefully this blog will help develop this product in a new way. Understanding technology will aid in the production of the Sweet Dreams Cookie and will allow me to utilize new techniques as I begin to formulate ideas. There is no way to really know what will become of this simple idea, but the only way to know is to experiment and find ways to make this as successful as possible.
